This accessibility statement applies to the website for Nature Towns and Cities, naturetownsandcities.org.uk.
This website is run by the National Trust on behalf of the Nature Towns and Cities partnership, including Natural England and The National Lottery Heritage Fund. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Not all headings are coded semantically. This will be addressed in the next iteration of this site in 2025. This fails WCAG criterion 1.3.1
Changing font size within some browsers does not change the font size on all parts of the website. This fails WCAG criterion 1.4.4
On the email registration plugin, error messages are not read out by the Screen Reader. This fails WCAG criterion 3.3.1
There is only one way to navigate the site, via the primary navigation. This fails WCAG criterion 2.4.5.
There are a number of HTML parsing errors. This fails WCAG criterion 4.1.1
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
This website is a temporary solution. We’re developing a new version of the website which will go live in spring 2025 with additional functionality. This next iteration of the site will be developed in line with WCAG 2.2.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 13 November 2024. It was last reviewed on 13 October 2024.
This website was last tested on 31 October 2024 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
The test was carried out by the National Trust in house testing team. The most viewed pages were tested using automated testing tools by our website team. A further audit of the website was carried out to the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
