  • Greener Communities

    We all want to see greener, healthier, thriving towns and cities and involving the people in those communities is crucial to achieving this.

    As part of our Nature Towns and Cities programme, we want to support communities to lead the way in developing their local green spaces. This webinar will highlight the opportunities and benefits of working with collaboratively between communities, local authorities and partner organisations.

From 8 October 2024: an Introduction to Nature Towns and Cities

In this webinar we heard from the team behind Nature Towns and Cities who gave an overview of the programme, saw case studies from Plymouth and Camden showing what places could achieve by being a part of it, and heard from The National Lottery Heritage Fund about how to apply for a grant.

From 21 October 2024: Nature as Part of the Urban Fabric 

In the first of several themed webinars, we explored the opportunities and benefits of green infrastructure for people and place. We heard from Nottingham City Council, Islington Council and Camden Council on their experiences of leading Urban GI projects.

From 7 November 2024: Working Effectively with the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector

We heard from several VCSE organisations about creating, managing and activating green spaces locally, and about what has worked well in their collaborations with Local Authorities, as well as what they see as the key improvements to be made.

From 19 November: Improving Health Through Urban Green and Blue Spaces

This webinar will focused on the opportunities around improving health and wellbeing through urban green and blue spaces. We heard from South Tees Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, and NHS Greater Manchester on their work on green social prescribing (who were also joined delivery partner, Northern Roots).
