Nature Towns and Cities is a new initiative bringing together major UK organisations.

The programme has been set up by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, National Trust and Natural England.

We’re also working closely with other partners across the UK, drawing on expertise from NatureScot, Natural Resources Wales and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Since 1994, The National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded over £9.2 billion to more than 52,000 heritage projects across the UK.
The Heritage Fund's vision is for heritage that is valued, cared for and sustained, for everyone, now and in the future. Over the next 10 years it aims to invest £3.6bn raised for good causes by National Lottery players to bring about benefits for people, places and the natural environment.
It is passionate about heritage and committed to driving innovation and collaboration to make a positive difference to people's lives today, while leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
National Trust

The National Trust was set up in 1895, to preserve the nation's nature, beauty and history for everyone to enjoy. As well as owning and caring for a significant amount of land and historic sites across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the Trust works in close partnership with other organisations to bring nature to people living in towns and cities - particularly those without green space to enjoy close to home.

Natural England

Natural England (NE) is the government’s adviser for the natural environment in England.
Its mission is building partnerships for nature’s recovery. This reflects the need for NE to work with and through a wide range of people and the need for rapid action to re-build sustainable ecosystems and thereby protect and restore habitats, species and landscapes.
