Event description
We all know the headline acts of urban green spaces: historic parks, large allotment sites, lovely big street trees. The Beyonces of city nature. But in the support slot, finishing their set as you arrive at the venue, are our everyday green spaces.
A planter in an alleyway, the random triangle of grass in the estate turned into a wildflower meadow, verges turned into bee highways – these little patches of nature that don’t get much attention, yet play a vital role in helping everyone get the benefits of nature in their lives, and provide key stepping stones for the wild neighbours that prop up our entire food web.
Join Hafsa Omar from Sow the City in Manchester, and Ally Hoadley from City of Edinburgh Council, to hear about how to create, care for and sustain the small green spaces that make our neighbourhoods better, whether you’re a resident, community organisation or a council.
