Support Nature Towns and Cities
Help us to bring nature to more people
We're actively seeking partners to support our mission to put nature at the heart of more towns and cities across the UK.
Nature and green infrastructure can deliver wide-ranging benefits for people, offering solutions to many of the challenges facing our towns and cities today. We’re seeking like-minded investors and collaborators, with interests aligned with the programme as a whole or in specific topics, to bring all of these benefits to people in urban neighbourhoods.
Get in touch with the team if you’d like to talk about how we could work together in any of these areas.
Local government and voluntary sector organisations are uniquely positioned to drive the change needed. But years of competing priorities and tightened budgets mean many organisations are lacking the resources to make it happen. By investing in the capacity of local government and the voluntary sector you’ll help towns and cities deliver change.
Enjoying time in green space and connecting with nature makes our lives happier and healthier. Green infrastructure can clean the air, cool the streets, and create space for people to be active outdoors. We want to support local health partnerships, local authorities, charities and community organisations to transform the urban landscape and bring nature to people’s doorsteps, especially in neighbourhoods that are missing out.
Playing outside is vital to healthy development. Yet only one in four UK children play outside for over an hour a day, with even fewer playing in natural areas. Our vision is for playful, nature-rich towns and cities.
Almost 1 million young people are not in education, employment or training. By investing in greener towns, cities and neighbourhoods we can also create much-needed jobs and training opportunities for young people – developing the next generation of nature makers.
The impact of climate change is increasingly apparent in our towns and cities. We want to help make places more resilient, by increasing tree canopy cover, restoring urban rivers and creating more green, spongy surfaces, starting in the places experiencing the most disadvantage.
Urban trees and woods can provide social, health, economic and environmental benefits for generations. But our urban canopy cover is declining fast, especially in the greyest areas. We want to support places to grow their urban forests, using tree equity as a guiding principle, and ensure that the benefits trees provide are available to all.
Every community is a unique mix of people and place, with different needs, energy and opportunity. Communities are fundamental to driving and sustaining positive change in their place. We want to empower communities to take action, make decisions, shape their neighbourhoods and develop ways to care for existing and new green spaces.
Invest in a town or city
Invest in a town, city or project
Over the coming years we plan to work with at least 100 UK towns and cities. Many of those places will soon be working towards accreditation through our scheme. It’s designed to provide assurance that a place has the foundations and long-term plans to deliver lasting and effective change for their towns and cities.
Contact us if you’re seeking to invest in a particular town or city, or in projects designed to deliver specific outcomes in line with your own interests. We’d love to put you in touch.
